Holidays 2009

We’ve got a lot of pictures from the holidays this year.  We had all the grandparents here for a very nice Christmas.  But first, we’re backtracking a bit to Halloween!  Pictures after the fold…

Tang Soo Do

A couple of months ago, Rob started taking Tang Soo Do (kinda pronounced like Tongue Sue Dough) lessons at the YMCA.  When starting out, everyone begins with a white belt.  On Wednesday, Rob had his first test and passed to the next rank!  He’s still a white belt, but now it has a black stripe on the end (don’t ask me what the ranks mean).

Rob is attempting to break a board. He was upset that he wasn't able to do it this time, but he's done it before. He wasn't required to break it this time to pass.

Rob is getting his stripe from the instructor.

A few extra pics

I know we have some pictures that we need to download off the camera, but in the meantime, here’s some pictures I took with my phone.  The pictures aren’t very good quality, but they’re better than nothing!

Something left over from the Magic Kingdom. The is Katie flying the Astro Orbiter. If you look real close, you can see part of the castle to the left of that yellow structure.

Disney World – Days 5 & 6

On day 5 we went back to the Magic Kingdom, hitting some of the rides we missed before, taking things at a more leisurely pace, and spending some time with Grandmother and Granddaddy Olejnik.  They were supposed to stay with us until we left on Saturday (this was Thursday), but they got a call around noon that their house had been broken into.  So they had to go back home after only spending one full day with us.  Later, the police did arrest the guy who did it and managed to recover most of their stuff he had taken.

Disney World – days 3 & 4

Our third day we spent in Epcot.  It’s been a while since we’ve been here, and they’ve made a lot of updates to the park.  One of the newest rides is Space, which simulates a launch into orbit and then onto Mars.  Yet again, way too many things to see and do, but I think we hit all the best parts.

We wanted to ride the monorail, so we got on a bus to the Magic Kingdom, and took the monorail over to Epcot.

Disney World – day 2

Our second day was spent in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios).  This park doesn’t have quite as many rides as the Magic Kingdom, mostly things to see and do, but we still had a lot of fun.  A couple rides that aren’t pictured below are the Tower of Terror and the Rockin’ Roller Coaster.  Rob & Katie both rode the Tower of Terror.  Katie was real excited about it at first, but when she got off, she said “My legs are wobbly!”.  She wouldn’t ride it again, but she enjoyed watching the doors open and people drop!  Rob rode the Rockin’ Roller Coaster, not knowing that it was a looping roller coaster (we didn’t know either), since it’s all indoors and in the dark.  However, he liked it a lot, and actually rode it twice.  He said he’s gotten over his fear of upside down roller coasters now.

First thing we rode was Star Tours, of course! It hasn't changed since they created it in 1988, and it's still a great ride, although they're closing it next year for a substantial overhaul!

Disney World – day 1

This past fall break, we did something we haven’t been able to do for a long time – have a vacation for ourselves!  Of course, we decided to go to Disney World.  🙂  We spent a total of 6 nights and 5 full days in Disney World, but only 4 days in the parks since we decided to have a day in the middle to rest.  Rob hasn’t been since he was 1 year old,  so he doesn’t remember the last time we went, so basically it was all new for all the kids.

Since there’s so many pictures, I’m going to split this up into different posts.  This first post is only going to cover our first full day, which we spent in the Magic Kingdom.  The other days will come later.
