Fort Mifflin

I haven’t been able to get out much here in Philly, but back on May 9th, I did take some time out to go see Fort Mifflin.  It was a Revolutionary War era fort that was used up through 1952.  I only learned about it because I flew over it – it’s right next to the airport, off the east end of the runway!

Some of the buildings inside the earth walls. See what I mean about the airport?

Another view, with the central building on the left. It's being restored right now.

Cannon emplacements along the wall. I think they're Civil War era.

Map of the fort. There are some underground areas of the fort at #3, 12 &17, but my phone didn't take good pictures in the low light.
